SSO (Single Sign-On)

An authentication process that allows users to log in once and access multiple applications and systems without re-entering credentials.

What is SSO?

Single Sign On dramatically simplifies the user experience by allowing employees to authenticate once typically through their corporate identity provider and then seamlessly access all authorized applications throughout their workday without being prompted to log in again. Beyond convenience, SSO has significant security benefits it reduces the number of passwords users must manage (and therefore the likelihood of weak or reused passwords), enables centralized enforcement of authentication policies like MFA across all applications, and makes it immediately effective when an account is suspended or deprovisioned since access to all connected applications is revoked simultaneously. SSO is one of the most impactful and widely deployed IAM capabilities, supported by platforms like Okta and Microsoft Entra.
