IAM (Identity and Access Management)

A framework of policies and technologies that ensures the right people access the right resources at the right time.

What is IAM?

Identity and Access Management is the discipline that governs how digital identities are created, maintained, and used to access systems, applications, and data across an organization. At its core, IAM ensures that every user whether an employee, contractor, customer, or machine has exactly the access they need to do their job, and nothing more. It encompasses a broad set of capabilities including authentication, authorization, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, lifecycle management, and access governance. As identity has become the primary attack surface in modern enterprises, a well-designed IAM program is no longer optional it is the foundation of every effective cybersecurity strategy.
