API Security

The practice of protecting application programming interfaces from unauthorized access, abuse, and data exposure.

What is API Security?

API Security refers to the strategies and tools used to protect APIs the connectors that allow different software applications to communicate with each other from being exploited by attackers. Since APIs often expose sensitive business logic and data, they have become a major target for cybercriminals. Effective API security involves authenticating every API request, enforcing strict authorization policies, validating all input data, encrypting data in transit, and continuously monitoring API traffic for unusual behavior. As organizations build more cloud-native and microservices-based applications, securing APIs has become a critical component of any cybersecurity program.
