What is a CASB?
A Cloud Access Security Broker is a security enforcement point that intercepts traffic between enterprise users and cloud applications, giving organizations visibility and control over how cloud services are being used. CASBs can detect unauthorized applications being used by employees (shadow IT), enforce data loss prevention policies, apply encryption to sensitive data moving to the cloud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. As organizations adopt more SaaS applications and move workloads to the cloud, CASBs have become an essential tool for maintaining consistent security policies across an environment that no longer has a defined perimeter.
