What is Adaptive Authentication?
Adaptive Authentication is a smart security approach that evaluates the risk level of each login attempt before deciding how much verification to require. Instead of asking every user for the same credentials every time, it analyzes factors like the user’s location, device, time of login, and behavior patterns to determine whether additional verification is needed. For example, a user logging in from their usual office laptop may only need a password, while the same user logging in from an unfamiliar country at midnight would be prompted for MFA. This approach improves both security and user experience by applying friction only where it is genuinely needed.
